Tata Nexon, Curvv and Curvv EV score 5 stars in the Bharat NCAP safety crash test.
All three received 5 stars in the Adult Occupant Protection
In Child Occupant Protection too, they received 5 stars.
6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, and ESC are offered on all three.
Curvv ICE and EV also get level-2 ADAS and electronic parking brake
The newly launched Tata Curvv and Curvv EV have impressed us with their perfect scores in the Bharat NCAP safety crash test. Along with the Curvv, the Nexon also scored 5 stars in the test. It must also be noted that the Tata Nexon was earlier tested by Global NCAP, where it aced the test with flying colours. Here is a detailed look at their scores:
Starting with the ICE-powered Curvv first, the SUV-coupe scored 29.50 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 43.66 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). The aforementioned scores were the reason for the 5 stars rating.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Curvv scored 14.65 out of 16.00, while in the side movable deformable barrier test, it secured a 14.85 out of 16.00. The protection given to the driver and co-driver’s head, neck, chest and thighs was good. While the shielding given to their legs was in the adequate category. The side protection was good for most parts, save for the chest area.
The EV iteration of the Curvv scored a slightly improved rating of 30.81/ 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.93 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP).
The Curvv EV scored 15.66 out of 16.00 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, and 15.15 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test.

The driver and co-driver’s head, neck, chest and thighs received good protection. Adequate to good protection was given to their legs, while the driver’s feet received good protection. In terms of side protection, just like the ICE version, good protection was given to the head, abdomen and pelvis areas and adequate protection was received in the chest region.
The marginally better score of the Curvv EV could be due to the fact that it is heavier than its ICE counterpart.
The popular Nexon subcompact SUV scored 29.41/ 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 43.83 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP).
It got a formidable and respectable score of 14.65 out of 16.00 and 14.76 out of 16.00 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, respectively.

The driver was protected well in the head, thighs and foot region, while his chest and leg region got adequate protection. Save for the leg region which received adequate protection, all body parts of the co-driver received good protection.
Apart from a strong and safe structure, cars also need to be equipped with a host of safety features to pass these tests with flying colours.
Features such as 6 airbags as standard, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a 360-degree camera with sensors is common between all three cars. However, the Curvv (ICE and EV) also come with an electronic parking brake with auto hold and a host of level-2 ADAS features which further help in making your drives safer. Some of these ADAS features include lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision avoidance assist.
The Curvv’s price ranges from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the ICE powertrains and Rs 17.49 to Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for EV. The Curvv EV directly rivals the Mahindra XUV400 and MG ZS EV, while the Curvv ICE competes with compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara.
The Nexon is priced from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It locks horns with subcompact SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and Nissan Magnite.
