The popularity of dark-themed special editions is growing, with brands seizing the opportunity to enhance the appeal of their products through such offerings. Notably, these special editions in our market are mostly offered with SUVs, as they already dominate the sales charts over other segments. With that said, let’s take a look at the five most budget-friendly SUVs available in India with dark-themed editions.
Prices start from Rs 8.46 lakh (ex-showroom)
The most affordable SUV on this list is the Hyundai Exter Knight Edition, available in its top-spec SX and SX (O) trims. It commands a premium of Rs 15,000 over the respective standard variants and is offered with the 83 PS, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Exterior highlights include darkened badging, all-black alloy wheels, red accents, and red brake callipers, while the interior follows a similar all-black theme with red highlights.
Prices start from Rs 10.34 lakh (ex-showroom)
Next up is the Hyundai Venue Knight Edition, which, like the Exter, embraces the blacked-out theme but adds brass inserts to both the exterior and interior. It can be configured with either the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. The former is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the latter can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Prices start from Rs 11.70 lakh (ex-showroom)
Tata Motors was among the first automakers to offer special blacked-out editions, including the Nexon Dark Edition. It is available across the Creative+ and Fearless+ trims and is offered with turbo-petrol, diesel, and even CNG powertrain options.
Top features include, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front-row seats, wireless phone charging, and 360-degree camera system.
Prices start from Rs 12.80 lakh (ex-showroom)
Citroen recently launched the Basalt Dark Edition, featuring blacked-out styling on the exterior along with an all-black cabin. The Basalt Dark Edition is available only in the top-spec Max trim and comes exclusively with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 110 PS and up to 205 Nm.
If you are interested in one, we suggest reserving it soon, as only a limited number of units are on offer.
Prices start from Rs 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom)
Along with the Basalt, Citroen also launched the Aircross Dark Edition, making it the second Citroen offering on this list. It is offered only with the 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic gearbox options. Top features include, 10.1-inch infotainment system, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and wireless phone charging.
