Tata Motors Hyundai India December 2023 Sales

Overall car sales in India for December 2023 are out, and the battle for the second spot appears to be interesting. Tata Motors has surpassed Hyundai India in terms of overall December 2023 sales, securing the second spot by a slim margin.

  • Tata Motors beat Hyundai India in December 2023 sales, though the difference was marginal at 2.11 percent.

  • This is not the first time the Indian marque has overtaken the Korean automaker in terms of monthly sales.

  • Currently, Hyundai offers thirteen models across all segments in India while Tata Motors offers ten, with five of them being SUVs.

  • Tata Motors recently gave a facelift to three of its SUVs: Nexon, Harrier, and Safari.

  • The 2023 Verna facelift and Exter micro-SUV were major launches for Hyundai last year.

While we didn't see any new launches in December from any of the above carmakers, as manufacturers usually prioritise clearing out old stock, mostly by offering discounts at dealership levels. Both manufacturers are expected to have a fierce battle for second place considering that they have exciting launches lined up ahead. We expect Tata Motors to kickstart this year with the launch of the Punch EV followed by models like the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, while Hyundai has scheduled the launch of the 2024 Creta facelift on January 16, 2024.
