With most of the automotive brands in India pushing out updates to their products ahead of the festive season. Volkswagen India has also decided to bring its long-awaited Virtus facelift, which has been revealed recently
After the teaser that Volkswagen posted through its social media accounts, the Virtus facelift has finally been fully revealed online. Let’s take a quick look at what changes can be noticed!
At first glance, you couldn’t notice if it was the new Virtus from a distance, as the changes are subtle. However, once you look closer, you notice the new bumper design with a piano black finish and a diamond-like design pattern on the lower air dam. The LED headlamps remain similar, having the same sleek identity.

Unlike most cars that are joining the connected lights trend, Volkswagen has decided to go otherwise for its sedan.
The side profile gets updated 16-inch alloy wheels and body-coloured door handles with chrome inserts. At the rear, the most noticeable difference is the LED taillamps, which has a clear-lens design, giving it a sporty vibe. On the lower half of the bumper, it gets an updated design with a diamond-like pattern.

The interiors are yet to be revealed, but looking at its platform sibling’s facelifts, it will be mostly similar to the current design.
While the equipment list is yet to be known, the updated Virtus is expected to feature a new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and an updated 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, much like the Slavia. It will also continue to offer powered and ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof, connected car technology, auto climate control, and a wireless phone charger.

In terms of safety, we can see in the images that it is equipped with front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. Meanwhile, we can also expect it to have all-four disc brakes, 6 airbags, a tyre pressure warning system, electronic stability control (ESC) and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
The current model of the Virtus has received 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash tests, which further solidifies its safety credentials, and we can also expect the same with the upcoming update.
The updated Virtus is expected to continue to offer a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. The 1-litre engine is expected to get a new 8-speed automatic gearbox and the existing 6-speed manual. Meanwhile, the larger 1.5-litre engine will most likely only be available with the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Powertrain specifications are as follows:

The Virtus Facelift is expected to be launched by the end of November or early December..And with the updates being modest, we expect this German sedan to get a price hike of anywhere between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 depending on the variant you choose. And so, we expect the price range of the new Virtus facelift to start at the Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
The Virtus rivals the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and its platform sibling, the Skoda Slavia.
With this modest update, the Virtus Facelift carries forward the design of its predecessor and has subtle design changes like the redesigned front bumper, new alloys, and even a slightly updated rear look.
The Virtus has always been the choice for enthusiasts with its sleeker looks and good balance of ride and handling, and with this update, it is expected to still pull in as many enthusiasts just like before.
