The spies of the motorcycle world have had their hands full these past few days, it seems, with Royal Enfield as the upcoming Himalayan 450 was spied yesterday and now, the Scrambler 650 has been spied abroad. This is the second time the bike has been spied abroad, the first being towards the tail-end of last year.
This time around, we can see that the bike gets LED indicators. This is the first time we have seen those in the Scrambler 650. We can also spot adjustable levers and a chromed-out taillight which adds a premium touch to the overall design. The box seen on the test mule is some equipment used for testing purposes.
We already know that the instrument console might be a fully-digital one as spotted earlier. But in other instances, we also spotted a semi-digital unit like the ones on the Hunter 350, Meteor 350 and the Super Meteor 650. So it’s best we hold our horses and wait and see what the bike will pack. Design-wise, in true scrambler fashion, the upcoming bike looks rugged and gets a ribbed seat, raised handlebar, oval-shaped side panels and spoked rims along with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a two-in-one exhaust setup. The headlight on the bike will be an LED unit. And the upcoming Scrambler 650 might get a different name altogether, the details of which can be found here.
Powering the upcoming bike will be air-/oil-cooled 648cc parallel twin engine found in the Continental GT 650,Interceptor 650 and the Super Meteor 650 and is expected to produce the same 47.65PS and 52Nm. The upside-down (USD) fork seen on the test mules seems different from the ones on the Super Meteor 650 and the upcoming Shotgun 650. Royal Enfield might have done this to give the Scrambler 650 a suspension setup that better suits the bike’s nature. At the rear, it has twin-shock absorbers but they won’t be gas-charged.
The upcoming Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 is expected to be launched by April 2024 and could get a price tag of Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Royal Enfield will also be launching the 2023 Bullet 350 in less than a month’s time so stay tuned!
