We put the 100cc bikes to the test to find out which one is the king of commuters

Honda recently launched the Shine 100 to take on the 100cc commuter segment, currently dominated by the iconic Hero Splendor Plus. Nishaad and I wanted to find out which of these workhorses was more fuel-efficient, and so we set out on an adventure.

The Hero Splendor Plus was my weapon of choice, whereas Nishaad put his faith in the Honda Shine 100.

Our plan was simple – drain out both bikes of all the fuel, and then refuel them with just one litre of petrol, and ride both bikes till they were completely dry. Now to make the challenge fair, Nishaad had to carry some weights with him, as he’s about 25kgs lighter than me: a lightweight just like his bike, you know!

As we set out on our journey to prove each other wrong, we came across a lot of interesting bits about each other's bikes that we could appreciate and commend. But only one of us could be the winner, and only one of the bikes could be the more fuel-efficient one. 

And that is what happened: one of us got left behind, after draining their fuel tank too soon, whereas the other had a good 5km more to go. So which bike won, and is truly the king of commuters? Find out in our video:
