Honda is all set to launch a 100cc commuter bike, which according to teasers could be called the Shine 100, tomorrow. It’ll be the Japanese marque’s reply to India’s best-selling bike, the Hero Splendor Plus.

While not much is known about the upcoming Honda bike, it’ll likely feature a 100cc sloper engine, a format that Honda hasn’t used since the 90s. Apart from having stellar reliability and fuel efficiency, what the sloper engine could also do is invoke a sense of nostalgia among enthusiasts who have fond memories of these engines from back in the day.

In order to take on the Hero Splendor Plus, Honda will have to do something it’s not exactly known for in recent times: price it aggressively. If Honda is able to utilize the sloper engine configuration properly, the bike could very well be priced around the Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom) mark. Other rivals include the Hero HF 100, HF Deluxe and the Bajaj Platina 100
