Quick Read:
Will be BMW Motorrad’s smallest ADV now that the G 310 GS has been sunset
Concept version was unveiled at 2024 EICMA
It will rival the Honda NX 500, Benelli TRK 502, upcoming Brixton Crossfire 500 Storr, and the CF Moto 450 MT.
EICMA is just around the corner (read November 4), so just about a week before the D-day, BMW Motorrad has teased the upcoming F 450 GS through its social media channels. The brand knows the baby GS has enough hype by itself, so it kept things simple in the teaser with just a shot of the fuel tank.
The BMW F450 GS concept was first showcased at EICMA 2024, where it grabbed a lot of attention thanks to the concept bike’s striking resemblance to the legendary R 1300 GS minus the layers and layers of fat. This one’s lean, mean and ready to rip. You can read more detailed aspects of the BMW F 450 GS in the spy shot reports.

Now that the G310 GS is no longer on sale in India, the F450 GS will be the entry level adventure bike from the German brand. While the G 310 GS left us wanting for a bit more, BMW Motorrad aims to solve exactly this with the parallel-twin F 450 GS. While the unveiling and possibly launch of the motorcycle (in developed markets) may happen at EICMA, expect the ADV to come some time later, perhaps in early 2026 in India. We reckon it will cost around Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant, with a more hardcore variant with semi-automatic transmission also being a possibility. Don’t expect that one to be cheap, though.

The Honda NX500 and the Benelli TRK 502 currently dominate the F 450 GS’ segment in India. So BMW Motorrad has a huge potential to exploit this space as a premium player. Afterall, this category will soon become more crowded as the Brixton Crossfire 500 Storr is all set to be launched in December, and even the CF Moto 450MT is incoming. If you think about it, the twin-cylinder 500-odd cc segment is perfect for Indian roads as you’d not only have superb refinement but also just about enough grunt to tackle every highway imaginable. It’s not hideously extra, neither is it achingly anaemic.
