It’s no secret that Ather Energy is preparing to expand its lineup with a more accessible electric scooter, expected to be called the EL01. Built on a new EL platform, the upcoming model is likely to launch in the next few months, and now, more details regarding its pricing have been revealed.
Speaking to a media house, the brand’s CBO (Chief Business Officer), Ravneet Singh Phokela, has confirmed that the new scooter will be priced below its current offerings but not under Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). While exact pricing is yet to be finalised, Ather’s approach is clear — offer a more attainable entry point without stepping away from its premium positioning.
With this move, Ather is aiming to tap into the lower end of the EV market, a space currently dominated by affordable electric scooters like the Vida VX2, Bajaj Chetak C2501 and others. This segment accounts for a significant chunk of overall electric two-wheeler sales, making it a crucial battleground for growth.
The company is also rapidly expanding its retail network and aims to reach around 700 experience centres by the end of this financial year, improving accessibility across markets.

To reduce the prices further, the brand could also introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for the new scooter, similar to what it did with the Rizta. This could significantly lower the effective upfront cost, making the scooter more appealing to price-sensitive buyers.
Overall, this new scooter marks Ather’s push to grow beyond its premium niche and capture a larger share of India’s fast-growing EV market.
