Ampere NXG Electric Scooter Spotted Testing highlights

A new electric scooter has been spotted testing and looking at the silhouette, it looks like the production version of the Ampere NXG concept that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023.

The electric scooter gets a boxy design language with the pillion footpegs neatly tucked inside the bodywork. The headlight and the taillight look like LED units. One of the features that stand out in these spy shots is the large digital display but it remains to be seen whether it will be an LCD or a TFT unit.

The single-piece seat seems quite spacious, and should comfortably seat two adults. It is complemented by a chunky grabrail at the rear. The spaciousness of the seat indicates a large underseat storage area but we can’t be sure about that until we know whether the battery is mounted under the seat or under the floorboard. Details on underpinnings are pretty limited at the moment, though we spotted a front disc brake, a first for an Ampere scooter.

So, the disc brake along with the large console suggest that the Ampere NXG will be a more premium offering than the Primus. As such, the upcoming electric scooter is also expected to get a more premium price tag than the Ampere Primus’ Rs 1,46,355 (ex-showroom Delhi) price. It will likely be launched by mid-2024.
