Gujarat-based EV startup Svitch has announced that it is gearing up to launch its first electric bike, the CSR 762 in India by July-August 2022. The company claims that it has already finished the internal testing and is now awaiting approval from the authorities. Svitch has already revealed quite a few technical specifications of the model.
The Svitch CSR 762 uses a 3kW mid-mounted motor that pumps a claimed 10kW of peak power. Svitch also mentions that its electric motorcycle can achieve a top speed of 110kmph. This motor is paired with a 3.7kW Lithium-ion nickel-manganese-cobalt battery with a claimed range of 120km. Interestingly, the company intends to introduce removable batteries as well and plans on installing battery swapping stations.
This upcoming electric bike packs a bunch of features too. As per Svitch, it will have six riding modes, including a parking mode, a reverse mode and a dedicated sports mode. While there’s no mention of any connectivity features, we expect it to have basic functions like call/sms alerts.
The Svitch CSR 762 seems to run on a basic suspension setup consisting of a telescopic fork and a monoshock. For braking, the electric bike has employed discs at both ends. Svitch claims that its bike tips the scales at 155kg.
The design of the Svitch CSR 762 seems outlandish, with a rectangular LED headlight and a single-piece fairing covering the battery and the motor. However, given that the design has previously undergone changes, we’ll reserve our judgement until the bike goes on sale. In fact, when the bike had its soft launch at a dealer event in November 2021, it was already on its 10th prototype iteration.
Svitch plans to price the CSR 765 electric bike at around Rs 1.65 lakh, and with the subsidies, the price could go down to around Rs 1.25 lakh. This EV certainly looks promising but it has been under development for quite some time now. Till then, your options for an electric bike are limited to the Tork Kratos and the Revolt RV 400. But if it’s a performance EV that you are after, you’ll have to wait for the Ultraviolette F77.
