Just a day after revealing the Windsor Pro’s Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) Tech, MG has now disclosed some other details and the launch date!

Windsor Pro

The MG Windsor EV has already captured its segment, with impressive demand and sales mainly due to its value-for-money proposition. However, even though it is a very capable EV, it has a few misses and imperfections. The good news is that MG will be launching the Windsor Pro on May 6, and the Pro model will come with an enhanced package featuring a larger battery pack and some additional features.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at what the Windsor Pro could get over the current model:

Enhanced Safety

The Windsor EV already comes with a commendable safety package with features such as 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, ESC, and a tyre pressure monitor. That being said, it misses out on ADAS features.

Windsor Pro

The Windsor Pro is expected to come with a suite of Level 2 ADAS features, which will likely include aids such as auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.

Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) Tech

A recent exclusive spy shot of the Windsor Pro’s Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) Tech was covered by ZigWheels. This feature is available with the Tata Nexon EV, which means that the Windsor rival won’t continue to have the benefit of the extra feature. This feature will come in handy when you need to charge smaller appliances. It is offered with cars that have big battery packs, acting as a portable charging setup for your devices.

Updated Styling

Well, not a major update to the styling but the Windsor Pro will feature revised alloy wheels. As with the current model, it is expected to get 18-inch alloy wheels. The rest of the design and silhouette will be carried over from the regular model.

More Convenience

The Windsor EV will likely come with added convenience, featuring a powered tailgate that comes with a kick feature. What this feature will do is make accessing the boot easier and convenient, especially when you are carrying a load and your hands are occupied.

A More Premium Interior?

The dashboard design and layout will continue to remain the same in the Windsor Pro, but it will likely come with more copper accents, adding to the premium feel of the cabin.

Features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, 256-colour ambient lighting, a fixed glass roof, cruise control, and a 9-speaker Infinity audio system will be carried over from the regular model.

Price And Rivals

The MG Windsor EV currently retails between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 16 lakh if you’re purchasing the car outright. You can also opt for the battery rental scheme, where you pay Rs 3.9 per kilometre for battery usage in addition to the vehicle's cost, which ranges from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). The Windsor Pro could be priced at around Rs 17 lakh. It will continue to lock horns with the Mahindra XUV400 EV and Tata Nexon EV.

The Windsor was already a very desirable EV for the price, but with the added features and larger battery pack, the Pro would be a great option to consider for those who want more peace of mind and a higher range. Some potential buyers were concerned about the Windsor’s range, but that won't be the case with the larger battery.
