MG Windsor EV teased again ahead of official launch.
Teaser video showcases the electric crossover being tested in the higher altitude regions of the country.
It is sold under the Wuling brand as Cloud EV in the international markets.
The model sold overseas gets a 50.6kWh battery with a CLTC claimed range of up to 460 km.
Will be officially launched in the coming weeks at an expected price of around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG has yet again teased its upcoming Windsor EV being vigorously tested in the higher altitude regions of the country. It shows the EV being driven at Chang La Pass and Wari La pass, situated at 17688 feet and 17429 feet. above sea level, respectively.
The teaser video shows the Windsor EV navigating through treacherous terrain at high altitudes, hence showcasing its performance prowess and practicality.
The MG Windsor EV, which essentially is the Wuling Cloud EV sold internationally, will be the brand’s third electric offering for India. The Windsor EV is an electric crossover with a lot of styling elements resembling the MG Comet EV like the connected LED lighting up front and at the rear. Considering there are limited crossovers on the Indian roads, the MG Windsor EV will surely be distinctive looking than the rest.
The MG Windsor EV will boast a feature rich cabin with plenty of niceties like a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control unit, wireless phone charging, electrically adjustable front seats, seat ventilation and is likely to be equipped with a panoramic sunroof option for the Indian market.
Safety tech is expected to encompass 6-airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control as standard. Furthermore, it can also be equipped with an electronic parking brake with auto hold functionality, hill-hold and hill-descent control, a 360 degree surround view camera with front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system and ADAS features like emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind spot detection and adaptive cruise control.
Though MG has not yet confirmed the powertrain options of the Windsor EV, it gets multiple powertrain options for the international markets. For the Indonesian market, It features a 50.6 kWh battery pack which powers a front wheel drive motor churning out 136 PS and 200 Nm. It has a CLTC claimed range of up to 460 km.
There is also an option of a smaller 37.9 kWh battery pack which delivers a claimed range of up to 360 km (CLTC).
The MG Windsor EV is expected to launch in the festive season with an introductory price tag of around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. It will rival other EVs in the market like the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, select variants of the upcoming Tata Curvv EV, and will be a smaller alternative to the already existing MG ZS EV.
