When the current KTM 390 Adventure range was first launched in India, it hit a sweet spot with a starting price tag of just around Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom). It felt like a genuinely accessible entry into the premium ADV space. But that didn’t last long. Within a year, prices climbed quickly, pushing the bike into a much more expensive bracket, and the revised GST norms only made things worse. What was once a strong value proposition started to feel a bit out of reach, and that’s exactly the problem KTM needed to fix, and it did!

A Much More Accessible Entry Point

With the launch of the new 349cc version, KTM has managed to bring the 390 Adventure down to Rs 2,80,905 (ex-showroom, Delhi). That’s a significant shift, especially in a segment where pricing often dictates accessibility. More importantly, it creates a substantial gap to the 399cc KTM 390 Adventure X (costing Rs 3,43,250, ex-showroom, Delhi), making the entry into KTM’s ADV lineup far more attainable for a wider audience.

Performance Matters Less Here

Unlike a streetfighter or a supersport, an adventure bike isn’t all about outright performance. It’s about usability, long-distance comfort, highway cruising ability, and the versatility to handle broken roads and light trails.

Which is why the drop to 41.5PS and 33.5Nm doesn’t feel like a major compromise here. On paper, the 349cc engine still offers more than enough grunt for touring duties, while likely being a bit more manageable and efficient in everyday use.

Better Segmentation, Clearer Choices

This new pricing structure also brings much-needed clarity to the lineup. The 350cc version now acts as the accessible, value-focused option, while the 399cc variants cater to riders who want more performance and features. That clean separation makes the buying decision far simpler than before.

Rivals Beware!

The change in price also makes the 350cc KTM 390 Adventure an even stronger proposition over its 399cc siblings. Since it’s based on the 390 Adventure X, an already capable tourer and a solid one-bike garage option, the 350cc Adventure inherits all these properties at a much more affordable price tag. 

It now neatly bridges the gap between the 250-300cc ADVs and the much more expensive 400-450cc ADVs. Those who crave for a bit more performance than the TVS Apache RTX300 or the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 can go for the 350cc KTM 390 Adventure, without spending too much.

Closing Thoughts

For the Adventure lineup, this move doesn’t just make logical sense, but also is good business-wise. The slight drop in performance is far less relevant here, while the gain in accessibility, price-wise makes a huge difference. The result is a lineup that’s easier to enter, easier to understand, and ultimately, far more appealing to a wide variety of riders with different budgets.
