This Electric Motorcycle From Nepal Has Swedish Influence

While all of us may not have a penchant for EVs, embracing them for the coming future is surely unavoidable. Moreover, the increasing pollution and depleting resources have also given exposure to the fast growing electric two-wheeler manufacturers. The latest one to join the fray is Yatri Motorcycles with its Project Zero.

To a layman’s eye, the Project Zero would look quite similar to the recently unveiled Husqvarna E-Pilen concept. Sporting a neo-retro theme, the e-motorcycle gets a round LED headlight, chopped rear fender, clip-ons, and minimum body work. Even the seat can accommodate just the rider.

The Project Zero houses lithium-nickel-manganese pouch cells with a claimed range of 230km. The 8kWh battery is paired with an electric motor offering a peak power of 48kW and 650Nm of torque. Yatri Motorcycles claim that the e-bike can sprint from 0 to 60kmph in under 2.5 seconds.

On the feature front, the Project Zero gets a 7-inch TFT display. It also offers keyless operation, auto-off indicators, built-in 4G connection, navigation as well as OTA for constant software upgrades on the bike.

Suspension duties on the Project Zero are managed by a 43mm adjustable USD front fork and an adjustable nitro-charged monoshock. Braking department is handled by a 320mm front disc with Brembo calliper and a 240mm rear disc.

The bike rolls on 17-inch spoked wheels wrapped in 110/70 front and 150/60 rear Metzeler Sportec M7RR rubber. It tips the weight scale at 180kg.

Given the premium kits and specs, the pricing for the Project Zero is too premium. Yatri Motorcycles have priced the e-motorcycle at NPR 19,45,000 (approximately Rs 12.85 lakh). For reference, the top-spec, Triumph Street Triple RS is priced at Rs 11.35 lakh. Heck, even the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is priced at Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Moreover, Yatri Motorcycles haven’t made any announcement on their exports plans yet. So, the Project Zero is probably not making it to the Indian shores.
