One is the new YZF-R15 M and the second model is the Aerox 155 maxi-scooter

  • Both the two-wheelers are powered by the same 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine.
  • The YZF-R15 M gets premium suspension hardware.
  • Expect the new R15 variant to bear a premium of Rs 6,000 - 7,000 over the standard model and the Aerox 155 could be priced at around Rs 1.40 lakh.
  • Yamaha India has been on the roll with all its two-wheelers launched in the past few months and today it’s time to take the wraps off the YZF-R15 M and Aerox 155. Here’s what you can expect from the two 155cc siblings.

    Yamaha YZF-R15 M

The R15M was spotted in flesh and quite a few design cues were revealed. It gets a spanking new fascia housing the projector headlight and the LED DRLs, inspired by the YZF-R7.

Sadly, the 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor has been detuned by 0.25PS and it’ll now develop 18.35PS. On the brighter side, the new Yammie gets a beefy USD fork and hopefully radial tyres too. There are subtle design changes like a larger fuel tank and altered rear quarter panels.

Expected the Yamaha YZF-R15 M to bear a premium of Rs 6,000 - 7,000 over the current YZF-R15 V3, priced at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom).

    Yamaha Aerox 155

The Aerox 155 will be Yamaha’s entry ticket into the larger 150cc scooter segment in India. The sporty Japanese scooter has a very youthful appeal, thanks to its sharp front fascia with LED headlight and the overall aggressive cladding.

It too employs a 155cc liquid-cooled motor which is detuned to make 14.95PS. Moreover, the features list on the Aerox 155 is quite decent. Apart from the LED illumination, you get a fully digital LCD screen with Bluetooth connectivity via the Y-connect app. The Aerox 155 gets a telescopic front fork and twin gas-charged rear shocks. It rolls on 14-inch wheels and is equipped with a front disc and a rear drum brake setup.

The Aerox 155 will be Yamaha’s most premium and expensive scooter offering in India. We expect it to be priced at around Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) and rival the Aprilia SXR 160.
