Scooters were envisioned as an affordable and convenient means of transportation but if price hikes keep coming at the ferocious rate that we’ve been seeing lately, that affordability factor will be blown to smithereens pretty soon. The latest hikes come from TVS, which has once again increased prices for all its scooters right from the humble Scooty series to its popular and sensible Jupiter and even the sporty NTorq 125.

These aren’t insignificant increments either. Sure, one variant of the Scooty Pep has gotten away with just a Rs 620 hike, but certain variants of TVS’ most popular scooter, the Jupiter, have become dearer by over Rs 2,000. To make sure that the Jupiter doesn’t slip out of reach for buyers, TVS has introduced a new entry-level variant called ‘Sheet Metal Wheel’ which, rather obviously, misses out on the alloy wheels that the other variants are fortunate enough to receive. Priced at Rs 63,497, it’s Rs 2,000 more affordable than the STD variant.
