Triumph India is gearing up to launch the new Street Triple S in India tomorrow. Dealers had started accepting for the motorcycles in May itself and the Street Triple is among the most important bikes for the British bikemaker. Talking about price, we expect the new Triumph Street triple S to be priced around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). The Triumph Street Triple range was given a complete overhaul after being in production for close to a decade with over 50,000 units being sold worldwide. The 2017 Triumph Street Triple range consists of three variants - S, R and RS. We had ridden the Street Triple RS earlier this year and came back impressed, (Triumph Street Triple RS First Ride Review). The bike that will be launched tomorrow is the base Street Triple S and the company officials had told us that they will be getting the entire range by late 2017. Talking about design, the new motorcycle looks similar to its predecessor but the lines are sharper and more sporty. While the R and RS variants feature 5-inch TFT display, the base version is equipped with a demi-digital unit with an analogue tachometer.
The new motor is Euro 4 emission norm compliant. Powering the bike is a 765cc, triple-cylinder engine that delivers 6.6% more peak power than the previous generation with 113PS at 11,250rpm and delivers a 7.3% increase in peak torque at 73Nm at 9,100rpm. The Triumph Street Triple that was sold in India produced 79PS as opposed to the 106PS on the international-sec bike. That won’t be the case with the 2017 Street Triple S as Triumph plans to get the full-power version to India. Triumph engineers have loaded the new bike with electronic goodies like ride-by-wire throttle, two ride modes (road, rain) and traction control.
