  • Selecting the right bike would depend on several factors such as your budget, features required, brand preference, etc. The Triumph Street Triple R is a fantastic no-nonsense friendly big bike with great performance, phenomenal intuitive handling, and a top-drawer kit. It does skimp on features and looks a bit bland but it seriously knocks it out of the pack in the VFM department. It has great handling characteristics, phenomenal performance, fantastic value-for-money, and sounds beautiful. On the other hand, Honda CBR650R has become pretty expensive. Scores low on price-to-performance doesn’t have a lot of modern features or electronic rider aids. It looks sporty and aggressive, with inline-four smoothness and exhaust note. Q. Is the ground clearance of 165 mm of the Triumph Street Triple troublesome on the Indian roads?
  • The street triple or street twin and even the Bonnie has a lower ground clearance and based on various forums it would scrape when you hit the speed breakers and with a pillion it is worse. Triumph does not mention.the GC but to what I enquired it should be between 140-150mm. However, the rear shocks can be adjusted for pre-loads and setting it up for a harder position (think level-2 of the pre load) it would circumvent the problem. You will have to careful during the entry to the speed breakers. But then you do not worry about scraping on most speed breakers. Other than ADV/scrambler types most of the SBKs have this issue of low Ground clearance. Once you adjust the preload of twins shocks and take care of slowing down you should be good. You cannot just go over the speed breakers like you do on RE’s or other Indian bikes.
  • Using Nnja300 for a couple of months now. It has a much lower 140mm clearance. I must say, most bumps are no problem at all, just some poorly made speed bumps need a little care. just walk-roll over the "dangerous" looking bumps and you will be all right. (my hieght/weight is 189cms/87kgs for refernce)

Q. My height is 170cm (5.6.5ft). Will it match the seat height of Triumph Street Triple? Can I adjust the Ohlins rear suspension to bring down the seat height a little? 165mm ground clearance for city ride is safe or risky?
  • Height any issue. As per my experience, 165 mm ground clearance never been problem to me unless i am having a pillion and speed bumps are big. that too can be avoided if you brake and slow down before speed bump and not just next to speed bump.

Q. I am going to buy street triple R it's my first superbike. Can I handle it as I am a rider as I rode 125cc two wheeler rode 9000 km for atleast 3 years and 350 classic for almost 1 month . If it is not safe for me then will anyone help me to choose a bike that is suitable for me between 10 to 12 lakhs ?

  • It's very good bike for upgrading

    It’s a very good bike for upgrading to a superbike; it’s easy to handle and drive. I definitely recommend this bike in this price segment. However, most showrooms do not provide the accessories that come with the bike and instead hold them back to sell at higher prices, which needs to be addressed.
