Royal Enfield has issued a recall for 2,36,966 motorcycles, including Classic, Bullet, and Meteor 350 models. The proactive recall is a result of a defective ignition coil which can cause misfiring, reduced vehicle performance, and in rare cases, even an electric short circuit.
According to Royal Enfield, close to 2,36,966 models sold between December 2020 and April 2021 may be affected. Meteor models manufactured and sold between December 2020 and April 2021 and Classic and Bullets between January and April 2021 will be recalled as part of this process.
Authorised service centres will inspect the motorcycles and replace the defective part, if required. Although, Royal Enfield estimates less than 10 percent of these motorcycles will require a part replacement. The recall applies to all aforementioned models sold across India, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia.
Royal Enfield's service teams and local dealerships will get in touch with customers whose motorcycle Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) number falls within the above-mentioned manufacturing period. Alternatively, customers can reach out to their local Royal Enfield dealerships or call Royal Enfield on 1800 210 007.
