MGL launching the scooters

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), in collaboration with Eco Fuel, has launched CNG-fuelled two-wheelers in Mumbai. The scooters are not only fuel efficient, but the use of CNG fuel makes them environment-friendly as well.

The two-wheelers equipped with CNG kits comprise of two gas cylinders with a combined capacity of 1.2kg each and can run for as much as 90km per kg of fuel. The gas is so cheap that it only costs Rs 0.60 for each kilometre the scooter covers, which is substantially more economical than the same two-wheeler running on fossil fuels. Customers interested in the kit can get the Lovato system retrofitted in their current commuters.

M/s Lovato and M/s ITUK are the only two kit makers that have their CNG kits approved by ICAT Gurgaon and ARAI Pune, respectively. Lovato has got approval for 18 scooters that are sold in the Indian market.

The features of the kit are:

  • Single fill CNG quantity: 2.4kg (1.2kg in each cylinder)
  • Mileage on CNG: average 90 km/kg and 220km per fill
