The Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition Is One For The Collector

After much delay, the 25th James Bond installment, No Time To Die, will finally be premiering globally on September 30. And to mark this moment, Land Rover has got something for true-blue Bond buffs. Welcome the new Defender V8 Bond Edition, the design of which has been inspired by the same spec used in the upcoming flick. 

Any car that features in a 007 movie has got to look slick and classy in keeping with the lavish sets and the splendid cinematography. The Defender seen in the trailer does that job to the tee. And now, the Bond Edition, based on the Extended Black Edition, is a real looker that scores high on the stealth meter.  

All the design elements, including the badges, tail lamps, headlamps, and alloy wheels, have been blacked-out. The only contrasting feature amid all the black are the classy blue front brake callipers. There’s also the ‘Defender 007’ badging on the tailgate that makes the car a keepsake for sure, especially if you are one of the countless Bond fanboys (or fangirls). 

The underlying ‘007’ theme doesn’t stop there. The puddle lamps and illuminated door sills greet you with the ‘007’ projection and lettering, respectively. And so does the infotainment when it boots up. There’s ‘One of 300’ embossed on the side of the dashboard, which refers to the only 300 units of the SUV that will be made worldwide.

Now, any Bond car cannot just pack oodles of style and be a laggard on the road. So, it’s not a shocker that the Defender Bond Edition gets the recently introduced 525PS 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol. This engine can take the Defender from 0-100kmph in 5.2 seconds, and it has a top speed of 240kmph. 

You can have the Defender Bond Edition in both 90 (3-door) and 110 (5-door) versions. So if you’re a Bond fan and looking to buy a Defender soon, just spend the extra dough and get this one. The ‘007’ theme and the whole air of exclusivity definitely make it a collector’s item. God, I wish I could afford one.
