Mahindra’s utilitarian workhorse, the Bolero SUV, has just been updated with an exclusive ‘Bold Edition’ that brings a slew of visual enhancements and a new cabin theme. The basic formula and simple underpinnings, which have made the SUV a favourite of the hinterlands, continue. Let’s see what the Bold Edition adds:
The Bolero ‘Bold Edition’ is essentially just an accessory pack, with trims and cosmetic touches installed at the dealer level. It gets additional bronze-coloured styling elements such as:
15-inch alloy wheels
ORVM covers
Front bumper, grille and fog lamp inserts
Roof rails
‘Bold Edition’ side badging
Door cladding

Besides these touches, the ‘Bold Edition’ also includes dual-tone black and brown leatherette upholstery, exclusive floor mats and a rear-view camera as part of the package. Prices have not been revealed yet, but you can contact your nearest Mahindra showroom for the same.

The Mahindra Bolero is one of the oldest continuously running nameplates still in existence in India, and despite multiple facelifts, remains focused on its utilitarian and functional core. It gets an iconic boxy design with few elements in the name of modernity and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel that adds massively to its road presence.

Inside, the theme continues, and there are hardly any luxuries, with only the basic necessities on offer. That said, its feature list includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, manual AC, steering-mounted controls and a USB Type-C charging port. Safety remains basic with dual airbags, ABS, seatbelt reminders for the first and second rows, and reverse parking sensors forming most of the list.

The Bolero is powered by a tough and torquey 1.5-litre diesel engine, whose specifications are mentioned below:

The Bolero retails in the range of Rs 8.57 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It has no direct rivals, but its slightly more modern sibling, the Bolero Neo, can be an alternative to it.
The Mahindra Bolero has been on sale for quite a long time, and it's easy to see why. For one, there’s no other car at its price point that offers quite the same amount of ruggedness and abuse-friendly nature. On the other hand, it falls short of offering some basic modern equipment that is considered essential in today’s market. That said, its close utilitarian focus and no-nonsense nature have made it the favourite of smaller towns and villages and this ‘Bold Edition’ will certainly make yours stand out a bit.
