Top Luxury Cars To Get GST Cut; G Wagen Cheaper By 25 Lakh!!

With GST 2.0 in place, that aspiration towards luxury cars has become a little easier to reach. The revised tax structure has cut lakhs off the prices of some of the most popular models. For buyers in this segment, it’s not so much about affordability as it is about value: the opportunity to step up to a higher trim, enjoy a more feature-rich package, or feel rewarded with a more sensible deal on something aspirational. 

Let’s take a closer look at why these cars are loved in India, what they offer, and where they stand after the GST cut.

Land Rover

In India, the Land Rover Defender is popular because it combines rugged, go-anywhere toughness with the comfort and technology expected from a modern luxury SUV. It appeals equally to both families and enthusiasts alike. 

The Defender comes with five engine choices: a 2-litre petrol (300 PS/400 Nm), a 3-litre diesel (300 PS/650 Nm), a 2-litre plug-in hybrid (297 PS/640 Nm), a 3-litre petrol (400 PS/550 Nm), and two V8 petrols (425 PS and 525 PS/625 Nm). All are paired with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. 

The Defender now has as much as up to Rs 18.6 lakh knocked off with updated prices ranging between Rs 98 lakh to Rs 2.6 crore (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz

• Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The E-Class is easily India’s favourite executive luxury sedan, especially among those who prefer to be chauffeur-driven. Its rear-seat comfort and smooth ride quality make it a default choice in its segment. 

It comes with 2-litre petrol and diesel engines, along with a 3-litre diesel engine option too. 

With up to Rs 5.25 lakh cut due to GST revision, the prices of the E-Class now range between Rs 78.5 lakh and Rs 91.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The S-Class remains the global symbol of luxury sedans, best known for its rear seat comfort and luxury within the cabin. In India, it comes with a 3-litre petrol engine (367 PS/500 Nm) and a 3-litre diesel (330 PS/700 Nm), both paired with a 9-speed automatic. 

Thanks to GST 2.0, the S-Class is now up to Rs 10.75 lakh cheaper, with prices ranging from Rs 1.78 crore to Rs 1.88 crore (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Benz GLC

The GLC is one of Mercedes’ most versatile SUVs, known for its comfort and road presence. It gets a 2-litre petrol (258 PS/400 Nm) and a 2-litre diesel (197 PS/440 Nm), both mated to a 9-speed automatic with all-wheel drive. 

With GST benefits of Rs 5.3 lakh, prices now sit at Rs 73.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Benz GLE

The GLE is a family favourite SUV, thanks to its spacious interiors and powerful stance. Its engine options include a 2-litre diesel (245 PS/500 Nm), a 3-litre diesel (330 PS/700 Nm), and a 3-litre petrol (367 PS/500 Nm), each paired with a 9-speed automatic. 

After the GST cut of up to Rs 8 lakh, it now ranges from Rs 96.15 lakh to Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Benz GLS

The GLS, often called the ‘S-Class’ of SUVs, offers three rows of comfort and premium technology. It comes with a 3-litre petrol (367 PS/500 Nm) and a 3-litre diesel (330 PS/700 Nm), both using the 9-speed automatic. 

With up to Rs 9.6 lakh saved, the GLS is now priced from Rs 1.32 crore to Rs 1.34 crore (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Maybach S 680

The Maybach S 680 is the kind of car where owners don’t think about driving at all – they just sink into the reclining rear seats while a V12 up front does the talking. Under the hood, it carries a 6-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol engine making 612 PS and 900 Nm, paired with a 9-speed automatic. 

GST benefits trim a whopping Rs 19.85 lakh off, bringing its new price to Rs 3.47 crore (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600

The GLS 600 is basically Maybach’s answer to people who want S-Class levels of luxury but in an SUV form. In India, it’s become a symbol of success with its cabin giving a feeling like a private jet.

It is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech, delivering 557 PS and 730 Nm, paired with a 9-speed automatic and AWD. 

After Rs 22.6 lakh shaved off, the SUV now costs Rs 3.16 crore (ex-showroom).

• Mercedes-Maybach S 580

The S 580 brings the Maybach badge to a slightly wider audience. It’s a popular choice for those who want the Maybach aura but don’t need a V12, making it the accessible luxury limo for many business leaders.

It gets a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol mild-hybrid setup producing 503 PS and 700 Nm. The 9-speed automatic ensures smooth power delivery. 

GST savings of Rs 15.7 lakh now price it at Rs 2.74 crore (ex-showroom). 

• Mercedes-AMG G 63

The G 63 is a cult car in India, instantly recognised by its boxy design and exhaust growl. Celebrities, industrialists, and even enthusiasts love it because it’s both a rugged off-roader and a performance machine, something no other SUV quite manages.

Combining a military-inspired look with supercar-like performance. It comes with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine churning out 585 PS and 850 Nm, mated to a 9-speed automatic and AWD. 

Post GST cut, it gets a benefit of a massive Rs 25.65 lakh; the icon now starts at Rs 3.59 crore (ex-showroom).

Audi

• Audi Q7

For Indian families stepping into luxury SUVs, the Q7 has long been a favourite. It’s big, practical, and loaded with features, making it perfect for long trips with family while still offering that premium Audi badge value. 

The Q7 packs a 3-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech, producing 340 PS and 500 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive. 

With Rs 6.14 lakh off, its prices will now start from Rs 86.14 lakh (ex-showroom). 

• Audi Q5

The Q5 has always been Audi’s sweet spot in India. It balances just the right amount of size, features, and badge appeal, which makes it a natural upgrade for executives and families moving up from entry-level luxury cars.

It uses a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine (265 PS/370 Nm), paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and quattro AWD. 

With Rs 4.55 lakh saved, the Q5 will now be priced from Rs 63.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

BMW

• BMW X7

The X7 is BMW’s flagship SUV and has caught the fancy of big families and entrepreneurs in India. It offers three rows of luxury while still delivering BMW’s trademark sporty drive, which makes it unique in the luxury SUV crowd.

It comes with a 3-litre petrol (381 PS/520 Nm) and a 3-litre diesel (340 PS/700 Nm), both linked to an 8-speed automatic and AWD. 

GST benefits of Rs 8.9 lakh bring the price to Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom). 

• BMW 5 Series

The 5 Series is a car that is sporty enough to enjoy on weekends, yet comfortable enough to be chauffeur-driven during the week, which is why it’s so well-loved here.

Indian buyers get it with a 2-litre petrol (252 PS/350 Nm) and a 2-litre diesel (190 PS/400 Nm), both paired with an 8-speed automatic. 

With Rs 4.15 lakh knocked off, it now starts from Rs 72.40 lakh (ex-showroom). 

• BMW 7 Series

The 7 Series is BMW’s answer to Mercedes S-Class as the boardroom-on-wheels, offering unmatched luxury, making it a top pick for those at the very top.

The 7 Series sits at the top of BMW’s sedan lineup, powered by a 3-litre petrol (381 PS/520 Nm) and a 3-litre diesel (340 PS/700 Nm), paired with an 8-speed automatic. 

Post GST benefits of Rs 10.25 lakh, it’s priced from Rs 1.79 crore to Rs 1.82 crore (ex-showroom).

Jeep

• Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler is for those who love adventure and serious off-roading, the kind you buy if you want to stand out in the city but also have a proper toy for off-road adventures.

It uses a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 272 PS and 400 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic and 4x4 system. 

With GST cuts reducing its cost by up to Rs 4.84 lakh, it can benefit from its current prices, which start from Rs 68.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

Although this GST revision hasn’t turned luxury cars into bargain buys, shaving as much as Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh on many models makes them a smarter buy or opens up the wallet for additional upgrades on them.
