Land Rover has globally unveiled two new special editions, the Range Rover Sport SV Black and Defender Octa Black, both of which come with an all-black finish and feature mechanical upgrades over their respective standard form. Notably these editions have been revealed for international markets, their India launch timeline is yet to be confirmed. Until then, here’s what makes these new black-themed SUVs stand out.
Both the Range Rover Sport SV Black and Defender Octa Black lean fully into the darkened theme, offering a stealthy presence.
The Range Rover Sport SV Black comes finished in Narvik Black shade, paired with a complete Gloss Black Exterior Pack. Everything from the grille to badges is finished in black. It also features 23-inch alloy wheels and black brake calipers, giving it an aggressive appearance. Even the SV badging and quad exhausts get the dark treatment.
The Defender Octa Black also sticks to the same idea, featuring up to 30 exterior elements in Gloss or Satin Black . This includes the front and rear scuff plates, and quad exhaust tips. Buyers in international markets can even opt for a matte protective film to make it stand out further. It can also be opted with 22-inch wheels finished in gloss black shade, while smoked rear lights round off its updated appearance.
Inside, both SUVs continue their all-black theme along with premium touches. The Range Rover Sport SV Black’s cabin features sculpted performance seats finished in Ebony Windsor leather. Adding to its character are trim pieces finished in a gloss black shade. It also features illuminated SV Black treadplates, further enhancing its sense of exclusivity.
Moving to the Defender Octa Black, the interior offers a more sophisticated take on its rugged character. It gets Ebony Semi-Aniline leather with Kvadrat fabric, a first for Defender. Unique perforation patterns and other stitching details further underscore its bespoke appeal. Buyers can also opt for carbon fibre accents to highlight its premium aesthetic.
The Defender Octa Black comes equipped with a larger 13.1-inch infotainment system, and 15-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System. Amenities like heated and ventilated seats, three-zone climate control, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, and 360-degree camera system are likely to be carried forward.
The Range Rover Sport SV Black features a 13.7-inch infotainment system, a 13.1-inch digital driver display, 22-way electrically adjustable front-row seats, heating and ventilation function for seats, ambient lighting, and 29-speaker Meridian sound system. Safety features will likely include, ADAS, 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking.
Underneath the hood, both SUVs feature a turbocharged V8 petrol engine. The Range Rover Sport SV Black draws power from a 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 producing 626 PS and 750 Nm. It sprints from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 290 kmph. Supporting its high-speed credentials is 6D Dynamics suspension system.
The Defender Octa Black shares the same powertrain producing 626 PS and 750 Nm, paired with 6D Dynamics suspension. It gets a dedicated Octa Mode for off-road performance.
Both models will be showcased at upcoming global events, with orders expected to open towards the end of 2025. Details regarding their India launch timelines are yet to be announced.
