There is nothing new about booking a car online as Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Renault and others have been doing this for some time now. What sets Hyundai apart is that the company has opened the process to book cars from the portfolio all at the same time, instead of moving from one model to another like other manufacturers. While some carmakers create a microsite to accept bookings, others skip the process and just list their cars with popular online shopping portals. Hyundai has decided to take bookings from its official India website. Here’s the booking amount you’ll have to pay depending on the car you choose:

- Eon: Rs 5,000

- Grand i10: Rs 10,000

- Xcent: Rs 10,000

- Elite i20: Rs 10,000

- i20 Active: Rs 10,000

- Verna: Rs 15,000

- Creta: Rs 25,000

- Elantra: Rs 50,000

- Tucson: Rs 50,000

- Santa Fe: Rs 1,00,000

In this connected world, there's enough information floating around the web to help you come to a decision without ever leaving your couch. Unless the manufacturer steps in to manage the sales and distribution thereby cutting down dealer margins and pass the savings straight to the customer, it adds little value to the average car buyer. If you are not online savvy, you can always call up the dealer, and a sales consultant will be happy to get to your place to collect the cheque and reserve a car for you. Visiting a dealership further gives the buyer an upper hand at negotiating discounts, deals and freebies. 

If you're reading this, you're very likely a car enthusiast yourself and booking a car without experiencing it first hand will be an awkward experience.
