It was in 1909 that Ettore Bugatti began his small business in the Alsacian town of Molsheim, France. Dealing in automobiles, the company was named Ettore Bugatti Automobiles i. Els. The pursuit was to make cars that combined aesthetics with technique.

It has been a hundred years since Ettore Bugatti started his venture, now known as Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S and part of the Volkswagen Group. To commemorate the centennial, Bugatti has taken its flagship brand, the Bugatti Veyron and introduced a limited edition version named the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire. Incidentally, the Veyron has only been in the market for three years, yet it has already achieved a cult status amongst automotive enthusiasts for it is the world's fastest car and its making has already become part of automotive history.

The Bugatti Veyron was touted to have a limited production run of just 300 units, out of which 250 are already sold! Considering the price tag that these cars retail for, it is genuinely a major accomplishment. Now that the company has completed 100 years, it only made sense that their achievement, known as the Veyron, should mark the highpoint in centenary celebrations.

The Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire is a unique model that, as the name suggests, is done up in a striking Bugatti blue. To take up on the model's traditional specification of two tone colours, Bugatti has done up the Veyron Bleu Centenaire in an exquisite sprintblue matt finish combined with a sprintblue gloss finish in order to bring out the two tone element. The roof of the limited edition collectors item car sports stripes and the exterior rearview mirrors are made of polished, anodized aluminium. Bugatti has also gone ahead with a special wheel design on this limited edition car and the most notable item are the bright red brake callipers that shine through. Further changes from the regular model (if I may call it that!!) include a mirror finish on the front grille and side air intakes.

Like all special editions, Bugatti has also finely detailed the interiors. The Centenaire comes fitted with a unique snow beige leather covered seats and central console.

Apart from that, the Centenaire shares its W16 engine that churns out a staggering 1,001 BHP with other Bugatti models and the changes such as LED lights, Park Distance Control and rearview camera, which have become standard on all Bugattis from this year onwards also find their way on the Centenaire.

Incidentally the Centenaire was showcased at the Bugatti stall at the Geneva Motor show this year, which also marked its official debut. Deliveries of the first limited edition cars are yet to be made.
