The Ray ZR gets a complete overhaul with a new motor while the MT-15 gets a new colour and feature updates

The Ray ZR is expected to carry a premium of around Rs 10,000.
It's claimed to be 16 per cent more fuel-efficient than the BS4 model.
Expect the MT-15 to get a price bump of around Rs 4,000.

Yamaha will launch the new Ray ZR 125-Fi and the updated MT-15 in February 2020. The revelation comes just days after it unveiled its entire BS6 lineup including the Fascino 125-Fi. The Ray ZR gets a brand new motor and a complete overhaul while the MT-15 comes with a new paint scheme and feature updates.

To begin with, the Ray ZR features a new digital instrument cluster, LED DRLs, an ACG starter for a smooth start, and a side stand cutoff switch, which according to Yamaha will be standardised across all of its future models.

The scooter is powered by a new BS6-compliant 125cc motor that makes 8.2PS and 9.7Nm -- 1PS and 1.6Nm more than 113cc engine seen on the older model. Yamaha claims the new powerplant is 16 per cent more efficient than the older variant and delivers 58km to a litre. It’s offered in two variants: standard and Street Rally. On the flip side, the MT-15 remains largely unchanged barring the new Ice Fluo Vermillion colour paint scheme, a standard radial rear tyre, and a side-stand engine kill feature. While Yamaha has kept the technical specifications of the engine under wraps, we expect it to make the same power and torque as the BS6-compliant Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0. For reference, the faired bike produces 18.6PS at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm at 8500rpm (0.7PS and 0.6Nm less than the BS4 model). The aforementioned changes might garner a price hike of around Rs 4,000 over the current BS4 model priced at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
