The Tata Safari, an SUV with a cult status, was recently discontinued in the country. In fact, the entire team at ZigWheels was emotional when Tata Motors decided to pull the plug on one of its iconic SUVs. Now, what if we tell you the Safari will still continue to exist as a badge in the BS6 era. Yes, you read that right.

Any Tata SUV with an all-wheel-drive system will eventually be christened the ‘Safari Edition’. This initiative is similar to Jeep’s Trail-Rated badge, which is present on its off-road vehicles. Recently, Tata Motors took the wraps off the Hexa Safari Edition - featuring an all-wheel-drive system and more butch looks.

Other Tata SUVs that could feature the Safari Edition tag in the future are the Gravitas and Harrier. The all-wheel-drive variants of both SUVs are expected to hit showrooms soon after the petrol variants of both SUVs are launched. The AWD Gravitas and Harrier will most likely utilise the 170PS 2.0-litre Multijet engine. We expect it to be offered with both manual and automatic options.

Meanwhile, in our wet dream, we picture an electric Sierra with four-wheel drive and the iconic Safari Edition badging. So yes, the Tata Safari, just like the Sierra, will continue to exist in the future.
