We’ve known for a while that Suzuki will be bringing the naked Gixxer 250 and the 2019 Gixxer 150 to our markets soon. In fact, brochures of the latter were leaked online, giving us a fair idea of what we’re in for. Here’s everything we expect from Suzuki’s upcoming 150cc naked.

The new Gixxer will come with a BS6-ready engine

From the brochures, we’ve come to know that powering the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer will be the same 154.9cc single-cylinder engine. However, this motor will now come equipped with fuel injection, which will help it in complying with the upcoming BS6 norms. We will also see a slight drop in power, 0.7PS (14.1PS) to be precise, as this is the same as the Gixxer SF. However, the torque output will remain unchanged at 14Nm.

It’ll be sportier looking than before

Just like its faired cousin, the naked Gixxer will also get a design overhaul. From the brochure images, we can see that the upcoming motorcycle will sport a more muscular look with a bulky fuel tank, engine shroud and alloy wheels shod with wider profile tyres. However, the biggest visual difference here will come in the form of a re-designed headlamp and split seats.

It’ll get new features and colours!

In terms of features, the 2019 Gixxer will come equipped with LED head and tail lamps, along with a revised fully digital instrument cluster with more readouts. The brochure also reveals that Suzuki will offer the 150cc naked in two different colours - black and grey. Although, considering the company offers the MotoGP-inspired livery on its faired cousin, we could definitely expect it to be carried over here too.

Expect a slightly premium price tag

Considering the extent of updates, we expect the 2019 Gixxer SF to carry a premium of Rs 10,000 over the current-gen bike. This will put it in the range of around Rs 98,000 (ex-showroom). Once launched, it’ll compete against the 2019 Yamaha FZ-S, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Honda CB Hornet and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
