VinFast: The Who, Why And How!

In the latest round of Bharat NCAP crash tests, the agency has tested the VinFast VF6 and VF7, both of which have scored an impressive 5 stars! Let’s take a look at what the results say and how well they have performed:
Score: 27.13/32
Starting from the smaller VF6, which scored an impressive 27.13 points out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection category, earning it 5 stars. In the test, both the front dummies show ‘Good’ protection for the head, neck, tibias and feet while the knees varied between ‘Adequate’ to ‘Marginal’.

However, the driver dummy’s chest protection was rated ‘Weak’, with the passenger dummy’s chest coming in at ‘Adequate’, leaving room for improvement.

In terms of the test scores, the Front Offset Deformable Barrier Test got a rating of 11.13 out of 16, while the VF6 also easily passed the Side Pole Impact Test. Both dummies also showed ‘Good’ protection in the Side Deformable Barrier Test for a full 16 out of 16 points.
Score: 44.41/49
In terms of the Child Occupant Protection offered, the VF6 got an overall score of 44.41 out of 49, earning it 5 stars here as well. It also scored a near-perfect 22.41 out of 24 for the Dynamic Score, with a full 12/12 for the CRS Installation Test, ensuring that the child seats fit firmly. It also got 10 points out of 13 in the Vehicle Assessment Score category.

Score: 28.54/32
The larger VF7, on the other hand, got a slightly better overall Adult Occupant Protection score at 28.54 points out of 32, earning it 5 stars as well. In the Front Offset Deformable Barrier Test, the dummies showed ‘Good’ protection for the tibias, feet, head and neck, with an ‘Adequate’ rating for the knees. However, here too, the driver dummy’s chest showed ‘Weak’ protection while the passenger dummy’s chest was rated better at ‘Adequate’. This meant that it got a score of 12.54 out of 16 for this test.

In terms of the side protection offered, the VF7 passed with a full 16 out of 16 score in the Side Deformable Barrier Test while clearing the Side Pole Impact Test as well.

Score: 45.25/49
The 5-star story continues in the Child Occupant Protection category as well, with the VF7 getting 45.25 points out of 49. It also got a near-perfect score of 23.25 out of 24 in the Dynamic Score category and a full CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12 as well, ensuring good protection for the child dummies and firmly secured child seats. Just like the VF6, it too got 10 out of 13 points in the Vehicle Assessment Score, leaving slight room for improvement.

Both the VF twins are equipped with safety features such as 7 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, all-wheel disc brakes and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The VinFast VF6 and VF7 compete with other cars such as the MG ZS EV and Windsor EV, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.
With these 5-star safety ratings, VinFast has built up its credibility when it comes to the safety aspect of its cars in India. Both the VF6 and VF7 offer a compelling proposition with competitive prices, loads of features and a unique design philosophy, and this rating will just go further in reassuring prospective buyers to take the plunge.
