VinFast VF6 And VinFast VF7 Pre-bookings Open In India! Here’s What You Need To Know About The Electric SUVs…

The EV market in India is now populated by multiple International car brands including top ones like BYD and Tesla. The good news is that now even the Vietnamese carmaker, VinFast, is set to soon launch its models in India, and has already opened the order books for the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. 

VinFast will be opening the first phase of dealerships in major cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune. The brand will also be expanding its footprint to 35 dealerships across India by the end of 2025. VinFast sells plenty of models globally, out of which the VF6 and VF7 will be the first ones to arrive in India. For those who don’t know much about the two, here’s our detailed overview of the VF6 and VF7…

VinFast VF6 

What is the VF6? The VF6 is a compact electric SUV set to take on EVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6. It comes with a sporty and modern design language, featuring sleek LED DRLs, a blacked-off grille, and an aggressively styled bumper. 

In profile, it boasts large wheel arches that complement the SUV design and the striking alloy wheels go well with the overall styling. The rear comes with connected LED tail lights, a chunky bumper and a nicely integrated spoiler for a sporty vibe. 

The interior of the VF6 is premium and minimalist with plenty of soft touch materials adding a sense of upmarketness inside. Instead of a driver’s display, you get a head-up display showing you all the vital stats. The sporty all-black theme is complemented by silver accents.

Top features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Internationally,  the VinFast VF6 comes with a 59.6 kWh battery pack across two trims. It offers a maximum claimed range of 410 km and the sole electric motor makes up to 204 PS. 

VF7

The VF7 is a full-size electric SUV, ready to take on the likes of the BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB. It is much larger and more premium than the VF6, and also offers a larger battery pack. Its styling won’t disappoint you at all, and its unconventional design language will definitely make it stand out on our roads. You will be left impressed by the sharp and smooth lines, and the signature front DRL with the stretched-out ‘V’ across the face will remind you of the badge every time you look at it. Flush door handle and connected LED tail lights further enhance the appeal of the SUV, and the stance of the SUV looks confident and bold. 

Step inside and you will realize that minimalization is the theme, and you will appreciate the sophisticated dual-tone theme with the driver-focused layout. Similar to the VF6, there are plenty of silver inserts throughout the cabin, and you also get plenty of storage options for enhanced practicality. 

The VF7’s top amenities include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, 8-way powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Top safety features include level-2 ADAS, an electronic parking brake, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, multiple airbags, and a 360-degree camera. 

It comes with a 70.8 kWh battery pack which offers fast charging capabilities of up to 150 kW. VinFast is yet to reveal the claimed range figures for the India-spec model.

With SUVs like Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV offering a lot for their price, VinFast would have to be very strategic and conscious about its pricing. We expect the VF6 to be priced from around Rs 25 lakh, and the VF7 could likely hit the Rs 50 lakh mark. Both the SUVs look well-packaged and have a sporty theme which would possibly attract a younger audience, and it would all come down to the pricing and how these Vietnamese cars adjust to our not so car-friendly road conditions.
