VinFast has already officially marked its presence in India with the launch of its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat. Both VF6 and VF7 are on display for potential customers to visit and check out the EVs in flesh. Pre-launch bookings are already open for both these SUVs, and the VF6 could arrive on our shores very soon, followed by the VF7.
In this report, we take a look at all the details of the VF6 ahead of its launch…
The VF6 comes with an athletic silhouette and a modern design language, featuring sleek LED DRLs, a blacked-off grille, and an aggressively styled bumper up front. The fascia looks nothing like any other car that is on sale currently, and the VF logo in the centre will be noticed, even from a distance.

From the sides, you can see the large wheel arches and sporty alloy wheels that complement the overall styling. The rear features connected LED tail lights, a well-integrated spoiler and a chunky bumper. The India-spec model will come with six colour options: Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, Urban Mint, Jet Black, Desat Silver and Zenith Grey.

The VF6 has its unique charm in the way it has been designed, and it simply does not look like your traditional SUV. While its sporty look will catch eyes, its clean styling elements make it look sophisticated.
Minimalism is the design language of the VF6, and it looks similar to modern-day EVs with the large screen in the centre dominating the dashboard. The good thing is that below the screen, you get physical controls as well. There is no traditional driver display, but you get a head-up display showing you all the vital information. Soft-touch materials across the cabin add a sense of sophistication, and you get silver inserts to contrast the sporty all-black theme.
The sunroof is fixed, and it does need a shade, especially considering the hot climate in most Indian cities.

The key features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof, 7 airbags and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
It has a 423-litre boot space, with the rear seats up. It gets a flat loading lip, which makes loading easier, and storage is practical enough.

So overall, there are no such misses in the features department, and it comes with everything that you would expect for a car of its price and size. The minimalism inside might not be to everyone’s liking, but it will appeal to those who prefer the modern-age design of EVs like the Tesla Model Y, or even the more affordable MG Windsor EV.
The VF6 globally comes with a 59.6 kWh battery pack, available across two trims. In the top-spec trim, it offers a maximum claimed range of 410 km, and the sole electric motor makes up to 204 PS. Do note that the claimed range is for foreign markets, and the range for the India-spec model is likely to be higher. We expect it to be around 500 km, reflecting a real-world range of 400 km.

The VF6 will come with fast charging capabilities, making your long-distance travels a bit easier. A 20-80 percent top-up takes about 30 minutes with a DC charger
The VF6 is expected to be priced at around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), and will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE 6.
We are excited and can’t wait to see VF6 cars on our shores. However, it will be interesting to see how the VF6 performs in a populated segment with cars from popular automakers like Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra. What makes it unique is its special attributes, especially the design language and interior layout. Moreover, VinFast competes with brands like Tesla and BYD abroad, so quality and reliability should not be a concern. The VF6 will be for those who don’t care about conventional styling, and rather want a unique ownership experience
