The top features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, 7 airbags, and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

VinFast VF7

The VF7 has been positioned as the flagship model and will compete with mid-size electric SUVs. In comparison to the VF6, the VF7 is a larger alternative with more features and a more premium interior with plenty of high-end features.

The VF7’s design is sporty and upbeat, but not very polarizing or in your face. It comes with signature VinFast styling that will catch attention on our roads, and with over 4.5 metres in length, it has the road presence too. Its proportions are squat and wide, and the stretched-out ‘V’ will remind you of the car’s brand.

It sports 19-inch alloy wheels, which complement the overall styling really well. Design elements like flush door handles add a sense of premiumness, and the rear end’s sleek and sporty design with subtle chrome inserts round off the overall look.

Like the VF6, the VF7 also boasts a clean and subtle interior that screams modernism. The sophisticated dual-tone theme, combined with plenty of premium leatherette materials, elevates the feel of the cabin. Moreover, there are well-executed storage spaces as well for your knick-knacks. The 537-litre boot space is something is something you would appreciate during airport visits or your IKEA runs.

The key amenities include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Safety is taken care of by multiple airbags,  an electronic parking brake, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a 360-degree camera. It also gets level-2 ADAS features.

The VF7 gets a single 70.8 kWh battery pack, available in FWD and AWD trims. The FWD system features a single motor that makes 201 PS and 310 Nm, while the AWD variant gets dual motors that churn out 354 PS and 500 Nm.

Rivals

The VinFast VF6 rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV.

The VinFast VF7 competes against the likes of the Volvo EX30, BMW iX1 LWB, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BYD Sealion 7.

ZigSays…

For a car, or a car brand, to find success in India is more complicated than it looks. India is no doubt a tough market to crack, and many things need to be correct for a new brand to succeed. The good thing is that both VF6 and VF7 have strong fundamentals and look promising. Their biggest strengths are modern and unique design, and feature-rich cabins that actually feel high-end.

India’s growing EV infrastructure and rising interest in affordable electric SUVs could play in their favor. However, challenges like brand recognition, after-sales service, and strong rivals (Tata, MG, Hyundai, and Mahindra) stand in the way. It would all come down to whether VinFast can connect with the Indian buyer or not, something that BYD has very well managed to do.
