MG Majestor Review: An Old-school Modern SUV!

MG Motor has just taken the wraps off the new Majestor SUV for the Indian market. The Majestor is MG’s flagship SUV in India, and to justify that title, MG has loaded the Majestor with all the features that you would require in your daily life and for added convenience on a leisure drive. But there are still a few features that are missing, and could be a valuable addition to the package.
Let's have a look at these 3 features that we believe could have been offered in the 2026 MG Majestor.
The front seats of the MG Majestor are powered, heated, and ventilated, but the rear seats do not get any of these. Even in the captain seat configuration, there is no option of seat ventilation on offer. This feature could have been game-changing since no other car in the segment offers this, although cars half its price have now started to offer ventilated rear seats.

We all know that aftermarket window tints are illegal, but to tackle the strong summer sunlight, companies usually offer a factory-fitted sunshade for the rear windows, which is missing on the new MG Majestor. Its direct rival, the Skoda Kodiaq, is also equipped with a rear window sunshade, while this feature can now also be had in smaller SUVs as well, but is not offered in the Majestor.

The MG Majestor packs in a lot of safety equipment, but it still offers only 6 airbags. More airbags could have given it a strong position in the segment, especially when cars like the Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Tayron R-Line offer 7 and 9 airbags, respectively. The Majestor still offers a Level-2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, traction control, and electronic stability control. You can also checkout this story to know how the Majestor stacks up against its rivals.

The MG Majestor’s powertrain lineup misses out on a petrol engine, and neither does it offer a manual transmission for its diesel engine. Powering the Majestor is a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which is mated to an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. But it does get a four-wheel drive with 10 off-road modes, a triple differential lock, and up to 810mm of water wading depth as well.

Here are the Majestor’s detailed engine specifications:
|
Engine |
2-litre twin-turbo diesel |
|

8-speed AT |
|
Power (PS) |
215 PS |
|
Torque (Nm) |

The 2026 Majestor has a strong potential to be a hit product by MG in the Indian market, considering the segment MG is targeting with the amount of features it brings to the table, top-notch interior quality, more space, and a powerful 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. Sure, it does miss out on some features discussed in this story, but that should not be a primary reason for deciding its sales figures in India. All that’s left to see is how well it fares when compared to its rivals, and the official pricing, which will ultimately decide Majestor’s fate.
