Suzuki India has unveiled the Suzuki e-Access in India. This is also the second time the manufacturer is showing an electric offering at Auto Expo; the first time being the e-Burgman. The e-Access has been specially built for the Indian market, and here’s what it has to offer.
Looks wise, the Suzuki e-Access looks a lot like the Suzuki Access 125. The brand has maintained the same family-oriented styling, but with a few changes. The scooter now looks a lot sharper with the rectangular LED headlight, DRLs and turn-indicators.
It will feature a 3.07kWh fixed battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 95km.The battery takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent, on a normal charger. With a fast charger the battery takes 1 hour and 12 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent. The scooter is powered by a 4.1kW motor which offers a claimed top speed of 71kmph.

Suzuki has decided to go with a fixed battery pack for the e-Access, instead of the swappable battery setup which we saw on the e-Burgman. This is likely done keeping in mind the nascent state of swappable battery infrastructure in India.
The scooter is suspended on a telescopic fork and a twin rear shock absorber suspension setup. It rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum at the rear.
When it comes to features, the Suzuki e-access offers a large underseat storage of 24-litres. The scooter also gets a TFT console which offers features such as smartphone connectivity. It also gets turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. The scooter also gets 3 riding modes: Eco, Ride A and Ride B along with a dedicated reverse mode.

Suzuki deciding to go for a fixed battery pack has helped quite a bit in increasing the underseat storage that the scooter has on offer. This has made the scooter a lot more capable to handle family needs.
The e-Access will go up against the Honda Activa e in India. Overall, the addition of the Suzuki e-Access to the market will really help in spreading the adoption of EVs as many Suzuki Access owners might consider upgrading to a Suzuki e-Access in the future. As Suzuki already has a reputation for scooters with reliable performance, the brand entering the EV space will make more customers consider making the switch.
