The production-spec Suzuki Jimny 5-door has made its first appearance in South Africa, also known as the Rainbow Nation, where it will be exported from our shores. The model also gets one cosmetic difference over the model sold here.

The South African Jimny looks identical to the model sold here, with the same slatted grille, round LED headlights and alloys. But the South African model gets an additional colour that’s not offered here: a green similar to that on the Indian Army’s vehicles. The South Africa-spec Jimny gets all the equipment offered here, like the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a multi-info display, cruise control, and power windows. Its safety should consist of six airbags, electronic stability control and rear parking sensors with camera.

No changes have been made underneath the hood, meaning the South African model continues to get the 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine. Customers there can pick it up with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. It comes with a four-wheel drivetrain with a low-range transfer case for improved off-roading prowess.
