Maruti Suzuki has launched the made-in-India five-door Jimny in Japan, priced at around Rs 14.86 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact off-roader is scheduled for its official launch in its home market on April 3. It has emerged as the second most-exported model for the carmaker in FY2024-25 after the Fronx. The five-door version, called 'Jimny Nomade' will be positioned above the three-door Jimny Sierra, already on sale there in Japan. Let's look closer at the Japanese-spec Jimny before it hits the anime-filled streets.
The Japanese five-door Jimny Nomade closely resembles the Indian model, featuring the same boxy silhouette and design elements. The grille retains the familiar five rectangular slats, with the middle one housing the ‘Suzuki’ logo. It also sports the same rounded headlights, fog lights, and traditional indicators. The side profile features classic door handles, while the rear maintains the taillights positioned below at the cladding and a spare tyre mounted on the door.

You can choose from six colour options, including Celestial Blue, Bluish Black, Jungle Green, and Arctic White in monotone shades. Additionally, Chiffon Ivory and Sizzling Red are available with black roofs, offering dual-tone variants. The colour palette differs from the Indian model, as the punchy Kinetic Yellow is absent in the Japanese lineup alongside several other options.

Inside, the Jimny Nomade carries the same rugged styling as its exterior. The cabin features a functional dashboard with a centrally placed touchscreen infotainment system and large analogue dials in the instrument cluster, complemented by a small digital display in between. The steering wheel comes with mounted controls for audio and calling. While the international-spec feature list is yet to be fully revealed, it is expected to mirror the India-spec version, likely with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, and connected car technology. In terms of safety, the Jimny Nomade is expected to include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors with a camera, and possibly some ADAS features, setting it apart from the Indian version.

Under the hood, the Jimny Nomade is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 102 PS and 130 Nm of torque. It is available with both a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The SUV comes equipped with a part-time 4WD system with low-range transfer gear for enhanced off-road capabilities.

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade is priced between 26,51,000 yen and 27,50,000 yen, which translates to approximately Rs 14.86 lakh to Rs 15.42 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the chosen transmission option.

While the three-door model had already been on sale in its origin nation, we believe the India-made five-door iteration would also make a mark for Japanese off-road enthusiasts. What are your thoughts on the Japanese 5-door Jimny? Let us know in the comments.
