Maruti Suzuki recently created history by achieving a big feat of exporting a new made-in-India car (read the Jimny 5-door) to the Japanese carmaker’s home country. It will sit above the Jimny 3-door that’s already on sale in Japan. If the thought of what’s different between the India-spec and Japan-spec models is bothering you, fret not, we have compiled the list of differences in this article. Keep reading to find out:
While the Jimny 5-door in India is just referred to as the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the Japan-spec model gets the ‘Nomade’ suffix. It’s in line with the Jimny 3-door that is called the Jimny Sierra in the carmaker’s home country.

While the India-spec Jimny 5-door is available in a total of seven paint options, the Japan-spec SUV can be had in six shades. It misses out on the Kinetic Yellow colour but gets two completely fresh shades: Chiffon Ivory Metallic (in a dual-tone combo) and Jungle Green.

The Japan-spec Suzuki Jimny Nomade gets some extra features over the India-spec model. These include two small mirrors on the underside of the ORVMs to reduce blindspots and/or to help it when going off-roading.

Suzuki also offers it with heated ORVMs and heated front seats, both of which are not on offer with the India-spec Jimny 5-door. Another difference between the two is that the former also comes with a black and grey fabric upholstery compared to the India-spec model’s all-black interior. One more feature that is separate on the two SUVs is the provision of a different touchscreen compared to the 9-inch display offered in our market.

The biggest talking point of the Jimny Nomade, however, is the inclusion of ADAS tech that’s been given a miss in India. It gets the Level-2 ADAS kit that encompasses traffic sign recognition, collision mitigation system, and adaptive cruise control.
While both the India-spec and Japan-spec Jimny get the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, the former has a slightly detuned output. The technical specifications are given below:

That said, both versions of the SUV get 4-wheel-drivetrain (4WD) as standard.

The Japan-spec Jimny Nomade is priced from 2,651,000 yen to 2,750,000 yen, which roughly translates to Rs 14.86 lakh to Rs 15.41 lakh at the time of writing this report. For reference, the Jimny 5-door costs between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in India. It rivals the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha 5-door in our market.
