Nissan’s bread and butter model in India, the Magnite sub-4m SUV, has received its first ever facelift since 2020. It has just been launched with prices starting from Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and is offered in a total of six broad variants. This price is applicable only for the first 10,000 bookings. As part of the facelift treatment, the Japanese carmaker has given it small tweaks inside-out in an attempt to keep it up to date with the competition.
But are the changes enough to help it put up a fight in a cut-throat segment with the likes of the Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Renault Kiger and Tata Nexon? Let's take a look at the changes:

Despite the update, the starting price for the Nissan Magnite facelift is the same as the outgoing model. However, these are introductory prices, which are only applicable for the first 10,000 deliveries.
The outgoing Nissan Magnite, despite being launched back in 2020, didn’t look outdated. So Nissan hasn’t tinkered with the design all that much. The pointy headlights are still very much pointy, the big grille is now bigger with a new honeycomb pattern and is flanked by chunky chrome inserts, and the L-shaped DRLs are still similar. But those headlights now have new elements inside, and the bumper has been tweaked to give it a chunkier and fresher look. Also, the placement of the fog lamps
The side profile gets new alloys, while the rear too carries a very familiar design.
The tail light cluster itself is identical, but like the headlights, it gets new elements with an H-shaped motif. Nissan has also slightly tweaked the bumper, which rounds up the 2024 Nissan Magnite’s modest exterior design changes.
There’s only a single new hue addition in its colour palette, namely the Sunrise Copper Orange.
The sense of familiarity continues inside the cabin of the Magnite facelift. The dashboard styling and layout is a carbon copy of the outgoing model with its trapezoidal air vents and circular knobs for AC control.
But what’s new is the dual tone black and orange theme, which adds some life to the cabin, which otherwise looked rather dull in the outgoing model. Pay some more attention and you’ll notice that the steering now gets Piano Black elements. But unlike before, the dashboard and door pads now get soft touch leatherette materials that up the Magnite’s premium quotient.
As for features, the facelift brings in 4-colour ambient lighting, auto IRVM, while existing features like an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument display, cruise control, air purifier, wireless phone charger and keyless entry with push-button start have been carried over.
6 airbags are now offered as standard and the safety kit further includes ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitor and electronic stability control.
No changes in this department. The 2024 Nissan Magnite facelift soldiers on with its existing 72 PS 1-litre NA petrol and 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engines. The NA petrol can be had with 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT, while the latter can be paired with a 5-speed MT or a CVT gearbox.
The 1-litre turbo-petrol engine has a claimed fuel efficiency of 20kmpl with the manual and 17.4kmpl with the CVT.
This facelift was Nissan’s chance to one-up the competition. While that isn’t the case, these incremental updates do give the Nissan a second wind and should help it put up a tougher fight against the Maruti Fronx, Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch, Toyota Taisor, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Citroen Basalt and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
