The Shotgun will be heavier than the Super Meteor 650!

(Update: The all-new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been launched. Check the details in our launch story here.)

Alongside the specs of the Himalayan 450, we also got our hands on the homologation doc of the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, revealing more about its weight wheelbase and a lot more.

Powering the Shotgun 650 will be the same 647.95cc parallel-twin engine that we’ve seen on the Interceptor 650, Super Meteor 650 and the Continental GT 650. On this one it makes 34.6kW, while the same figure stands at 34.9kW on the Interceptor and the Continental GT 650. But both figures mean a good 47PS. While the torque figures haven’t been specified, we expect it to be the same 52.3Nm that the other three 650s make.

The talking point about the Shotgun 650 in this doc is its weight. The 428kg Gross Vehicle Weight could result in a kerb weight that’s around the 248kg mark given that its load carrying capacity is around 180kg. That makes it a bit heavier than the Super Meteor 650 (241kg) despite having much tighter proportions than the Super Meteor 650.

The tighter dimensions are obvious, for the Shotgun 650 is a bobber. Some extra bits from the Super Meteor 650 will be chopped and we expect the Shotgun to have a sharper rake as well. The bike was last spotted in May this year and we expect it to arrive in India sometime later this year. Its price is expected to be around the Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
