Skoda India has teased the upcoming Slavia sedan’s exterior design via design sketches. Slated for a global premiere on November 18, the Slavia is Skoda’s second model after the Kushaq under its India 2.0 strategy. The upcoming sedan will replace the Rapid and is claimed to be more premium as well. By the looks of it, Skoda is certainly off to a good start.

The new Slavia borrows its design genes from the more premium Octavia. Familiar Skoda touches can be seen in the form of the large butterfly grille, flanked by sleek LED headlamps which should get the crystalline detailing. The muscular bulge on the hood and the sharply styled front bumper gives the sedan a sporty demeanor.

In profile, the sedan’s glass area looks similar to the Octy. Even the creases running through the body look neat and European. Then there’re the 10-spoke alloy wheels that complement the sedan’s stance. At the rear, the sedan gets split-LED tail lamps and ‘SKODA’ badging as seen in its recent models. Overall, the Slavia’s design looks neat and classy.

The Slavia should get a similar set of features as the Kushaq, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system with subwoofer, ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Skoda has also confirmed a segment-first digital driver’s display for the Slavia.
Safety of passengers should be taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

The Slavia will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform and boasts a 2,651mm wheelbase. It will be offered with a choice of a 115PS 1-litre or 150PS 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. The latter also boast segment-first cylinder deactivation tech, shutting down two cylinders for improved fuel economy.
