Tata has officially brought the iconic Sierra nameplate back into the market, this time as a compact SUV. With introductory prices starting from Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Sierra slots into a crowded segment but stands out with its distinctive retro-inspired styling, feature-loaded cabin, multiple powertrain options, and a wide seven-variant lineup. While Tata has announced the starting price, buyers are excited to know about its booking window and when they can expect their SUVs to be delivered.

The Tata Sierra has been launched in India at an introductory price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in a total of 7 variants. Tata will open order books for the Sierra from December 16, 2025. The full price list of the car is expected to be released in the first week of December, and then you’ll be able to drive it home starting from January 15, 2026.
The exterior design of the Tata Sierra turns heads with its boxy silhouette that pays homage to the original 1991 Sierra. The slim connected LED DRLs and taillights, blacked-out C-pillar with squared rear window, 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles and a flat tailgate show how the design has evolved to be a perfect balance of futuristic styling and nostalgic throwback elements.

On the inside, the cabin layout follows a minimalistic theme, with a dual-tone colour scheme, gloss-black steering wheel with illuminated logo, and a floating centre console,. The dashboard is dominated by three screens spanning across the cabin. At the rear, occupants get a spacious experience, thanks to the large windows, 2-step reclining backrest, panoramic sunroof, and a “boss mode” to slide the co-driver seat forward.

In terms of features, the Sierra leaves little room for complaint. Key highlights include features like a triple screen layout encompassing a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and two 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and passenger entertainment display, a large panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, 8-way power adjustable driver seat with memory, a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system, dual-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and terrain modes.

If it's a Tata, top-notch safety is assured; the Sierra is expected to secure a 5-star rating in both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP tests. Apart from this, the safety package in Sierra includes a Level-2 ADAS suite with front and rear blind-spot alerts, a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Tata Sierra is available with three engine options, which includes a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and Tata’s tried and tested 1.5-litre diesel engine. The NA petrol, and Diesel engines get manual and automatic transmission options while the turbo-petrol makes do with just an automatic gearbox. Here are the detailed specifications:

The Tata Sierra faces fierce competition from established names like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and in-house rival in the form of the Tata Curvv. Not to forget the German siblings, the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. Renault's upcoming 2026 Duster and its sibling, the Nissan Tekton, are also expected to be other contenders against the Sierra.

While the Sierra is finally ready to step into the market, Tata has mapped out a clear roll-out plan. The gradual reveal of prices, followed by a structural booking window and a well-defined delivery schedule, shows that Tata wants early customers to feel confident about what’s coming their way. The Sierra has already created a buzz with its unique styling and a modern interior loaded with features. All eyes are now on whether Tata can deliver the value needed to turn the Sierra into Tata’s next big hit, and whether or not it can establish itself in the compact SUV segment in India.
