One of the biggest talking points with the launch of the 2025 Tata Sierra is the powertrain lineup. Along with the turbo-petrol, in a surprise move, Tata has also introduced a new 1.5-litre NA Petrol engine with the Sierra, especially for buyers seeking a more city-friendly and accessible powertrain option. Paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, this engine delivers 106 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque, achieving a blend of simplicity an functionality.

Tata Sierra Diesel: Familiar 1.5-Litre Unit Tuned for the Sierra

Complementing the new turbo-petrol option is a 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Sierra. This engine is based on Tata's current diesel platform and delivers up to 118 PS and 280 Nm.

The diesel variant is targeted at buyers who have long-distance touring as a priority and want better fuel economy. Expect torque delivery to be strong in the mid-range, which should give the Sierra relaxed highway performance typical for diesel users. The engine will come with either a manual or an automatic transmission, depending on the model variant.
