It’ll sit above the EQC SUV upon launch.
Will be available with up to seven seats.
Maybach variant expected in 2023.
Mercedes also has an EQE SUV in the pipeline.
Mercedes-Benz has given us an official sneak peek at its upcoming EQS electric SUV that’ll sit alongside the flagship EQS sedan in the carmaker’s all-electric lineup. The EQS SUV was previewed in concept form as the Maybach EQS SUV last year, and it’ll be fully revealed on April 19. We expect the electric vehicle (EV) to go on sale in global markets later in 2022 as a rival to the upcoming Range Rover electric SUV.

Despite the camouflage, we can easily discern that the EQS doesn’t seem to have the same imposing, upright stance as the GLS ICE SUV, and instead opts for a longer, lower appearance.

The carmaker has revealed the SUV’s interior as well. Up to seven seats are on offer, and the second-row seats will be electronically adjustable. It gets a similar MBUX Hyperscreen multi-screen layout for the dashboard as the EQS sedan. The SUV will also be equipped with a dual-pane full-panoramic sunroof that’ll extend to the rear seats.

The EQS SUV is likely to be offered with similar powertrain options as its sedan counterpart, which is offered with 334PS RWD and 523PS AWD options. The SUV could get a range of up to 700km, and is expected to be capable of charging at rates of 110kW or higher. For reference, the EQS sedan’s 107.8kWh battery pack can be charged to 80 percent in 35 minutes.
