Ahead of its launch later this month, Maruti Suzuki has released the first teaser of the upcoming Brezza facelift, which is expected to incorporate several changes to make the SUV fresher in face of newer competition. But what does the teaser show, and what do we know so far? Let’s take a look:
The first teaser released by Maruti Suzuki shows us some of the facelift’s styling cues, such as a refreshed front-end with a slimmer grille, a silver skid plate and reprofiled bumper. We can also see that the SUV will get a new alloy wheel design for a sharper look.

However, it also confirms that the rear-end of the car is likely to stay largely unchanged with the same squared-off LED taillamps and ‘BREZZA’ badging in between. Besides this, we can also see a larger touchscreen infotainment system inside that may be borrowed from the Victoris.

The SUV used in the video also features various red inserts on parts such as the side skirts and the grille, however, it remains unconfirmed if these will be a part of the new Brezza’s design or the official accessory list.

One of the bestselling SUVs in the subcompact segment, the new Brezza is a key refresh for the carmaker, given that it has been almost four years since the launch of the second-generation of the car. In terms of design, it is expected to retain its boxy silhouette, a flat nose and a rather conservative design language with minor tweaks expected to the bumpers and other small design elements.
Equipment-wise, the new car could get a small boost in the form of a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a premium audio setup, ventilated front seats, digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof. These are likely to be in addition to existing features like wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, head-up display, auto-dimming IRVM and keyless entry with push button start/stop.

Its list of safety features could remain largely unchanged with tech such as 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors and a rear wiper, washer and defogger. Maruti may choose to make a small addition in this area with front parking sensors.
Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options, although the factory-fitted CNG kit could employ a new underbody setup to free up boot space. Here are the detailed specifications of the current Brezza:

The new Brezza is slated to launch on July 24, at an expected price of Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Maruti Brezza rivals cars like the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet and Syros, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
While the new Brezza may not look drastically different, its changes under the skin could make it a more competitive package in this fiercely competitive subcompact SUV segment, and take it one step closer to becoming perhaps the ideal family mover. That said, we wish Maruti had taken this opportunity to induce some more youthfulness and premium features given the changing market trends and at least offer a more enthusiastic powertrain as well. However, we will only be able to pass a judgement once the car is launched later this month, and till then stay tuned to ZigWheels, as we bring you the latest new updates and more!
