Imported as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit), the sedan promises stupendous supercar-beating performance levels and has some really neat tricks up its sleeve. If you’re intrigued, here’s a lowdown:
2026 Mercedes-AMG E53: Price
Mercedes-Benz wants to keep the AMG E53’s exclusivity intact, and that comes with the massive price tag of Rs 1.45 crore (ex-showroom) for the Performance Variant. Here is its detailed pricing:

2026 Mercedes-AMG E53: Exterior
In short, the AMG E53 clearly looks like an E-Class but one that does not try to be subtle. Upfront, you get a massive gloss black grille with illumination, aggressive bumpers with aero vents and familiar LED headlamps are present as well.

The side profile is where it looks significantly differentiated, with its swooping roofline and shorter wheelbase than the standard car. The AMG credentials further bring in 20-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, gloss black ORVMs and a lower, meaner stance.

The rear profile still features the uber-cool connected LED taillamps with 3D ‘star-like’ detailing. It also features a sportier bumper with quad exhaust tips, a gloss black diffuser and tiny air vents on the edges as well to improve airflow. You also have a sleek bootlid spoiler to further remind you of its origins.

For India, Mercedes-Benz is offering colour options: Polar White, Verde Silver, Obsidian Black, Nautical Blue, Velvet Brown, and Graphite Grey Metallic.
2026 Mercedes-AMG E53: Interior
Inside, the AMG E53 continues with what Mercedes-Benz calls the ‘Superscreen’ setup with three screens spanning across the width of the dashboard. New here is also the latest five spoke steering wheel from the latest AMG parts bin, plenty of carbon-fibre, alcantara and leather and even aluminium finishes in certain spots.

This is a driver’s car, and that fact is made apparent with the tight front sports seats meant to hug you tight in corners. The rear seat is also not as roomy as the regular long-wheelbase car, but it still offers an opulent experience for those rare times you want to get out of the front seat.
2026 Mercedes-AMG E53: Features And Safety
The AMG E53 being a Mecedes comes with a load of luxury features, including a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system coupled with a 730W 17-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos. The dual-screen dashboard also comes packed with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. The front seats gets powered and ventilated functions along with massage functions. It also includes features like an AR-based heads-up display, wireless phone chargers, panoramic displays and multi-colour interior ambient lighting, which gives the cabin the premium lounge experience.

The E 53 includes safety features like multiple airbags for front and rear passengers, including curtain airbags, Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, front, side and rear parking sensors, tyre-pressure monitoring system (TMPS) and the electronic driver aids like ABS with EBD, traction control (TC), hill-hold control (HHC), vehicle stability control (VSC) and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The E 53 has also scored 5-stars in the Euro NCAP crash safety test.
2026 Mercedes-AMG E53: Powertrain
Getting to the star of the show, which is the 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol powertrain with the plug-in hybrid system that quite clearly will put you ahead of anything on the roads. Here are its detailed specifications:

What’s more, when the burble of the turbo-petrol becomes too loud, you can switch to the pure EV mode as well, which, on a full battery will give you a WLTP-claimed range of 100 km, and offers 60 kW DC fast charging as well. Another trick the AMG E53 has in its pocket is rear-axle steering which improves both the stability and agility of the sedan.
2026 Mercedes-AMG E53: Rivals
It is tough to classify the AMG E53 in a particular category, simply given how unique the entire package is. It does not have direct competition, but with Rs 2 crore in your pocket, the BMW M5 and Porsche Taycan offer similar levels of performance.
ZigSays…
As ultimate as the AMG E53 is, it's priced like it too. If you want a performance car, that your family won’t groan before getting into, nothing comes quite close to it. The plug-in hybrid powertrain and the usual luxuries and comforts of a Mercedes make it as easy-to-live as any other sedan on the market. But it's happily up to the job when ‘drop-a-gear-and-dissappear’ is the mood as well.
