If you thought the Hyundai Creta Electric’s price tag was just another number on a spec sheet, think again. What Hyundai has pulled off here is nothing short of a pricing wizardry, and the magic wand behind it? Localisation. Let’s dive into how Hyundai has cracked the code on keeping Creta Electric’s price competitive while ensuring it remains a top-value proposition.
Hyundai Motor India Limited’s (HMIL) commitment to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ is a well-executed roadmap that has resulted in an impressive 92% localisation across its manufacturing processes. With over 1,238 components now sourced locally, Hyundai has ensured that the Creta Electric isn’t burdened by unnecessary import duties, keeping costs in check.

The numbers speak for themselves: Hyundai’s localisation drive has saved approximately Rs 5,678 crore in forex outflow since 2019, a feat that directly translates into a more attractive sticker price for the end customer.
Hyundai has also enhanced the overall package to make the Creta Electric a compelling buy. Thanks to deeper localisation, key high-tech components like the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), panoramic sunroof, inflators, oil cooler, and NOx sensors have been successfully manufactured in India for the first time.

And let’s not forget the 100% localisation of crucial parts like alternators, alloy wheels, disc brakes, shark-fin antennas, reverse parking sensors and more such components. What this means for the buyer is a feature-packed EV at a price that doesn’t break the bank.
Hyundai isn’t stopping here. With its upcoming manufacturing plant in Talegaon, Maharashtra, the company is looking to deepen its local supply chain even further.

This means that future Hyundai EVs will be even more affordable while continuing to pack in the premium features we’ve come to expect from the brand.
As the prices start at Rs 17.99 lakhs, the Hyundai Creta Electric is proof that with the right strategy, an automaker can deliver a world-class product without inflating the price. By localising critical components and refining manufacturing efficiencies, Hyundai has ensured that Creta Electric stands out not just for its features but also for its unbeatable value.

For the Indian EV buyer, this is a glimpse into the future of affordable, high-quality electric mobility. And if this is the benchmark Hyundai is setting, competitors better start taking notes!
