RTO documents of an upcoming model of the Chetak electric scooter has leaked online. As per the document, most of the powertrain remains the same, except for range, which has now gone up by 18km.
Yes, the claimed range of the upcoming model is 108km, whereas the current Chetak claims to give 90km on a single charge, although we extracted almost 114km. That said, the new model will continue to have a 2.884kWh lithium-ion battery, same as the current e-scooter.
This is surprising considering there’s no change in the motor specifications as well. We reckon the Battery Management System (BMS) could be the update that has improved the range of this e-scooter. That said, this could be the only substantial improvement with the new model of the Chetak.
The upcoming Bajaj Chetak 2423 is expected to retain its design, LCD console, and soft-touch switchgear. Also, the new e-scooter will continue with just the ‘Premium’ variant, with the ‘Urbane’ model currently not listed on the document.
The new Bajaj Chetak is likely to be priced around Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom, incl FAME-II subsidy), the same as the current model. Compared to the TVS iQube S, Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro, it is quite expensive without offering as many features.
