Gets segment-first ride modes and a lot of other new features--we explain them all

Just a day after the TVS Jupiter 125 broke cover, the company also dropped the 2022 Apache RTR 160 4V as a pleasant surprise. TVS has retouched the Apache RTR 160 4V on some notable fronts which should now make it an even more value for money product. But what exactly does the updated model have to offer?

Ride Modes? Really?

After debuting on the Apache RR 310 and then the Apache RTR 200 4V, the riding modes tech has now trickled down to the 2022 Apache RTR 160 4V. It gets three riding modes: Sport, Rain and Urban. While Sport mode gives you access to full power, the remaining two put a leash on it by dropping the output marginally. How much? Check the next para.

Same Motor, But Tweaked Differently

TVS has used the same 159cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor as before. However, the peak output is down by 0.8PS compared to its predecessor. The bike now makes 17.55PS at 9,250rpm and 14.73Nm at 7,250rpm in Sport mode while Rain/Urban mode allows 15.64PS at 8,600 rpm and 14.14Nm at 7,250rpm. The 5-speed gearbox remains unchanged.

Stay connected

The TVS SmartXonnect feature (available only on Special edition and Front and rear disc with rear radial tyre, and smartphone connectivity model) has also made it to the 2022 model. It allows you to connect your smartphone to the instrument console via Bluetooth and gives access to turn-by-turn navigation, among other geeky features. TVS has also thrown in the gear position indicator on the new console.
